What does it mean to be Ready & Prepared?
Mindset
As with most things in life, having the right “mindset” is crucial for being prepared for everyday emergencies that might come our way.
Our mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how we make sense of the world and ourselves. It influences how we think, feel, and behave in any given situation. We think of mindset as being either fixed or growth oriented.
People with fixed mindsets tend to focus on what is familiar and are not interested in change. Those with a growth mindset are more open and ready to take on challenges.
For those with a fixed mindset, taking the time to be ready and prepared can seem like a waste of time. Nothing will happen and life will go on. Most of the time, that attitude is fine.
Until the unforeseen happens. The recent pandemic is a great example. A few years ago, the idea that we would be subjected to a pandemic that would last for years was unthinkable. There was no way that we would change the way we work, how we interact with friends and family, and how rapidly our health could be impacted.
Having the right mindset when preparing for everyday emergencies is crucial. It makes you more resilient and able to adapt and adjust when needed.
Taking the time to be ready, even if you never have to be, is part of being resilient. Practicing your skills, and having completed your preparations helps to reduce the fear and worry that often plagues us when we think about our families and our businesses.
